Graduates Come Together to Treat Patient

A complex emergency case had arrived at the University of Iowa, and Robert Sand, DO ’16, was tasked with setting up the Operating Room. Part of that entailed getting the right personnel in the room, so he called on his two junior residents to assist. It quickly dawned on him that the two residents assisting were also RVU graduates: Sarah Helwege, DO ’17, and Brad Wheeler, DO ’18.

“In a single room, we had three consecutive years of RVU graduates,” Dr. Sand said. “The moment was unique and special, and reminded us of our journeys that brought us [together].”
